Melbourne University’s Asia Institute and Asialink Arts are pleased to invite you to Asian Art Worlds: Collectors, Curators & Critics.
Taking place on September 9, 2014, the symposium will explore the critical infrastructure of the Asian art world, with a focus on Indonesia and Timor Leste. Drawing on the expertise of a group of visiting fellows from the region, the event will also feature perspectives from Australian based curators, arts professionals and academics.
Discussing the structural factors that stimulate, steer or obstruct creative production, transfer and consumption in Asia, panel sessions and presentations will analyse the work and impact of collectors, curators and critics. Key themes include collections, museums, galleries, auction houses, education, archives, conservation, festivals, networks, audiences, critique and historiography.
Sessions will be convened by Dr Edwin Jurriëns, Asia Institute, Lesley Alway, Director, Asialink Arts and Dr Meredith Martin, Faculty of Arts.
